"What a privilege to be able to spend our honeymoon at Chateau Marouatte with a group of 12 good friends.  The website photos are amazing but the Chateau and surrounding countryside are even better in reality, absolutely breathtaking!  Barbara and Mark were so welcoming and helpful and Lucy's meals in the Banqueting Hall were divine.  Thanks to John and Mark we had an excellent day visiting St Emilion and a couple of Chateau's along with a lovely picnic in the countryside. Definitely a must as was the murder mystery night - brilliant fun.  Thanks must also go to Rose for helping with our booking from the start.  Would be visit again — definitely, in fact we all didn't want to leave and hope to return in the near future as there is so much more of the area yet undiscovered by us all."

It is a delight to relax in rooms packed with antiques and feel that, for a short time at least, all this is yours! My meal in the Banqueting Hall was amazing - wonderful food provided by Lucy and the table and hall so well decorated by Barbara and Mark. Everyone was thrilled to be a part of the day. "A life experience. I grew up with many enjoyable trips to castles and I was almost speechless when my wife found Chateau Marouatte.  I couldn't believe that you could hire a castle for a birthday party. Obviously we saw chateaux en route from Biarritz but none matched the sheer presence on the distant hilltop, the winding road up to the gate and a tour whilst still overwhelmed.  It was a privilege to share such a fabulous location with family and friends.  Lucy and her trusty assistant were real stars and deserved the loud applause for a great meal, constant wine top ups and an impressive firework on the cake.  Lucy said I would get an extra glow if I selected all the wine for the meal from Margaux rather than a hypermarket and I did. Thanks for the detailed answers to the stream of questions - it really helped to plan our adventure."

"The croquet week was a great success and much enjoyed by everyone. Steve and Sarah looked after us well, and so our only complaint would be that the weather was passable but not good -  but certainly rather better than in the UK over the last fortnight! "We recently arrived back in Houston and unpacked after the honeymoon and travels across Europe.  We must give you some feedback, all our friends and family have been in touch with us and said they had a fantastic time.  Ally and I really enjoyed ourselves too, it wasn't at all stressful, absolutely no crisis's or worries of any kind.  Chateau was wonderful, as we suspected and as you told us, we were lucky with weather too, Steve was great, I had a lot of long chats with him and wish I'd invited him to the ceremony.  Sarah and Jean were terrific too.  I was very pleased that everyone just seemed to be in such a really, excited, happy mood, must be a result of seeing the beauty of the region.  Ally and I didn't do that much sightseeing, although some others did.  We did go canoeing down the river and that became an excuse for a lot of splashing, made up for the lack of white water rapids.  We also had a few games of tennis, I hadn't remembered there was a tennis court, luckily Steve provided some racquets and also we had some table football games, charades and a roulette night, not to mention some terrific dinners outside.  We also visited the fish restaurant at Lisle which was superb, best pink trout I've ever had. Thanks a lot for your wonderful assistance and please pass on our appreciation and thanks to the owners and Steve."

"We had the most marvelous time! The 16 members of the family descended from all directions .. like a treasure hunt finding the castle. Everyone was completely awestruck. The pictures on your web site are pretty amazing but in reality, it is just the most fantastic place! It was wonderful to have Sarah and her brother cook for us that night, having installed themselves in the kitchen several hours previously. I was so grateful that night for their lovely cooking and their friendly service.  It was my husband's 60th birthday.  We decorated the dining room and all 16 of us were able to sit together at the table. To my immense satisfaction, it was all a total shock for my husband. Actually, I think ALL of us were in a state of shock to find ourselves in such an utterly magical place as Chateau Marouatte turned out to be. The next day was beautifully sunny and our Halowe'en Party day. I went to find the triplets in a big black witch's hat, found them in the amazing games room, painted in colourful medieval style, captured them and led them back across the courtyard to the kitchen for breakfast. For lunch, we DID go to the 'Moulin' restaurant suggested in Lisle. This was another surprise. The setting couldn't have been more beautiful, the owners and waiters were charming and the food was delicious. Later that evening, we re-decorated the dining room for a Hallowe'en party and Murder Mystery. We had so much fun. Chateau Marouatte provided the most absolutely perfect setting: the rooms lit by candlelight, knights lurking in the corners, and outside, a huge  full moon. We all wished that we could have stayed longer. There wasn't enough time to enjoy all the wonderful sights and activities available there. We'd all love to come back some time and enjoy the chateau and its grounds for a longer period. Thank you very much for what turned out to be one of the most memorable events in the lives of all the Murches."
