"The Chateau was booked by my wife as a surprise for my 40th Birthday. I was shocked when we found it, as like most people, I think of a chateau as a big house with the odd tower or pointy roof bit thrown in, but Chateau Marouatte is actually quite a big castle. Fourteen friends turned up to help us celebrate and I will never forget the look on their faces when they arrived. This place is simply amazing and I still have difficulty believing that you can rent the whole place. My wife and I have traveled a great deal, but this is by far the best place we have ever stayed. The fact that you can share such a wonderful place with your closest friends without the intrusion of other guests makes it a unique experience. I could not recommend this place highly enough."

"We had an absolutely amazing weekend which made it an unforgettable 50th celebration for my husband.  Marouatte lived up to and exceeded our expectations - it really is an incredibly special place with such ambience.  Thank you for allowing us to book it for the weekend.  Our friends were almost speechless when they arrived! Thank you also so much for introducing us to Sarah who did an outstanding job on the catering.  From start to finish everything was perfect and so beautifully presented and delicious!  We have all returned to England feeling very well fed and somewhat heavier than when we left!  I would have no hesitation in recommending Sarah to anyone who wants catering and together with her brother Toby and Emmanual, they made a fantastic team. Steven was also very helpful - please pass on our thanks to him once again. Finally we had perfect weather - unbroken warm sunshine so the tennis court was used,  we went canoeing on the Dronne and were able to have pre-dinner drinks on the terrace. All in all a magical weekend in a magical place.......we hope to come back again in the future. Thank you once again for all your help."

"We found the Chateau absolutely delightful with every possible facility you could want on a holiday with children. Even though there were 8 adults and 8 children we all felt there was more than enough private space for each family such that at no time did we feel 'on top of each other'. The living areas also provided sufficient space such that we could all congregate quite happily at mealtimes. There was ample safe space for the children to play both within the Chateau and the immediate surrounding gardens. Further afield, but still within the grounds, there was lovely woodland to walk in or for older children to go and explore for themselves. The swimming pool was beautiful and clean as well as safe for younger children with it being in a separately enclosed area. The games room also had great facilities but because of the glorious weather it did not get used to its full potential. We had a truly wonderful time there, so much so that we are going back again in 2006."
